Zeb (ゼブ, Zebu?) is the friend of Olka Gretcher and a loyal follower of the Gretcher family. He pretended to be the husband of Olka (who was using the name Shaty Grey) under the alias Furseal Grey ( ファーシル・グレイ, Fāshiru Gurei?) while aboard the Princess Lorelei cruise ship.
Appearance[]
Zeb is a tall man with slicked-back blond hair and purple eyes. Throughout his appearances, he continues to change clothes due to his and Olka's efforts to evade her assassins:
When meeting Yor Forger and the Berlint City Hall team, he wears a well-tailored suit jacket with a striped shirt. Later at a formal dinner, he wears a blue suit with a black shirt and white tie. When preparing to move out to reach the rendezvous, Zeb dons a light brown suit with a dark blue bow tie and a flower-shaped pin on his lapel, and also combs his hair down with a fringe covering his forehead.
When Zeb was younger, he had maroon hair.
Personality[]
Zeb is a kind but cowardly man who does his best to protect the people he cares about. Despite his fears, Zeb is willing to put himself on the line for Olka and Gram, as shown when he shields them from a gunman. He is also seen to be quite good at acting while not under pressure, as he played Olka's husband during their time on Princess Lorelei.
History[]
Zeb and Olka's first meeting
Not much is told about Zeb's past, but from his memories, it can be seen that as a child, he and his family were in poverty due to the losses that the second war between Ostania and Westalis caused them, and Zeb recalls how he would have been dead if not for the black market the Gretcher family ran after the war, remembering fondly the memory of a young Olka secretly giving him bread. From there, Zeb developed feelings for Olka and joined the Gretcher crime family.
After the Gretcher family fell due to infighting, Leonardo Hapoon took over. Disliking Hapoon for cozying up to pro-war extremists to get rich, Zeb chose to not work for him and stayed loyal to Olka. After Hapoon places a bounty on Olka and Gram's heads, Olka gets help from the assassin organization Garden to board Princess Lorelei in order to seek asylum in a foreign country, and Zeb decides to join her. Three days before they board the ship, Zeb makes a phone call to his parents to say goodbye.

Zeb and the Gretchers meet Matthew and Yor
In the first-class suite, Matthew McMahon introduces himself as the Director of Policy at Berlint City Hall and two bureaucrats from their business development team, Heymann and Vides, including Yor. Zeb introduces himself "Furseal Grey" from Arhaus Department Stores and Olka as his wife, "Shaty." Furseal observes that Yor must be Olka's assigned bodyguard and worries if she can protect Olka after seeing her her slim appearance, but Matthew assures him that Yor is strong.[2]
The city hall group and the Grey family have dinner at a fancy restaurant. While the group chats about how good the food is, Yor and Furseal fidget around, too nervous to taste anything. After dinner, the men head down to the lower deck for drinks while Yor escorts Olka and Gram back to their room.
Matthew pulls Zeb aside to inform him of the danger at hand
Nearby, Zeb, Matthew, and the other men walk around after drinking at the bar. Matthew suddenly excuses himself for a moment and quickly takes Zeb away upon returning, informing him that Olka's information has circulated among their assassin pursuers. Because of the secrecy of the operation, there is no way the information could have leaked, so Matthew asks Zeb if he made any contact with the outside world while hiding. Zeb mentions the phone call he made to his parents but swears that he did not tell them anything important.[3]
Matthew and Zeb arrive at the room, where an assassin has already made his attack. After Matthew catches the assassin's attention, the assassin aims at him Matthew and Zeb, but Yor hurls her weapon through the door and pins his head to the wall, killing him. After retrieving the corpse, Matthew informs the group that the itinerary got leaked and there are multiple enemies aboard the ship. He directs Yor to take Zeb, Olka, and Gram to a vacant room in the second-class suite while he covers up the mess. He forewarns her that the ship might return to port if there is a public incident and recommends she avoid fighting to prevent that. After receiving domino masks to disguise themselves, Yor, Olka, Zeb, and Gram leave for the second deck lounge.
The group crosses paths with Sickle-and-Chain Barnaby
While walking through the halls, Zeb says the masks make them look conspicuous, and Yor assures him that the second lounge is holding a masquerade ball, where they will blend in. She also notices that they are being followed and discloses this with the others. Upon arriving at the ball, Yor dispatches attacking assassins without causing any disturbance, and upon finishing, she returns to the group, and they go through the shopping promenade to the second-class area.[4] Olka, Gram, Zeb, and Yor cross paths with Sickle-and-Chain Barnaby, who swings his blade at them in a surprise attack. Yor moves, ducking the attack while moving Zeb and Olka with her, and the two begin to fight.[5] Zeb flees the scene with the Gretchers, and when Yor defeats Barnaby, she returns to the three after ditching Barnaby at a seat.[6]

After arriving at their new room, Yor assures the group that it is secure and has everything they need to hole up safely until the rendezvous. Zeb notices Olka and Gram are visibly shaken, so he exclaims how scared he was to calm them down, and his attempt succeeds, although at his expense. Olka asks Zeb why he came with them instead of joining the gang's new boss. Zeb explains that it is because he owes a lot to the previous boss and recalls what Olka and her family have done for him. Zeb remembers it fondly and says it is all the reason he needs to be with her. Zeb promises to protect Olka from harm but relapses when he hears a knock on the door and quickly hides behind Olka. Behind the door is Matthew, who tells the two to rest while he whittles down the enemy numbers. Zeb is baffled by how composed the assassins are and says that despite the war officially ending over a decade ago, war is still around. Matthew replies that as long as people are the way they are, the fighting will never stop and that he and Yor are soldiers fighting for their country.[1]
The group move out to prepare for the rendezvous
Standing by a radio, Matthew receives a transmission and calls Olka's room. Yor answers the phone and informs the others that they got the all-ready signal from the ship at the rendezvous. While it will be in four hours, Yor tells Olka and Zeb to prepare and change into their disguises. After seeing that the coast is clear, Yor, Olka, Gram, and Zeb head out.[7]
As the fireworks show is about to commence, the group walks through the halls of the ship. Yor says their destination is Storage Area 3 and explains the plan to get Olka and Zeb off the boat and to the rendezvous ship, hoping to proceed during the fireworks show, but the show starts, and the group is startled by the sudden noise. After calming down, they continue onward. From above, a sniper watches them and prepares to shoot Olka as another firework goes off. Yor quickly grabs Olka out of the way but gets grazed by the shot. Yor asks Olka and Zeb if they are alright. Suddenly, a large number of assassins reveal themselves and surround the group.[8]
Zeb uses his body to shield Olka and Gram
As the assassins surround Zeb, Olka, Yor, and Gram, Yor tells them to hide inside a hatch, but she gets held back by a rope user when she tries to guide them there. While Olka and Gram go inside the hatch, an assassin points his gun at them. Zeb sees this and grabs Olka, shielding her from the bullets fired. As they tumble inside the hatch, Zeb shuts the cover. A worried Olka asks Zeb if he is okay, and he complains about how badly he is hurting even while wearing a bulletproof vest, and Olka tells him not to be so reckless.[9]
After Yor and Matthew deal with all the assassins, Olka, Gram and Zeb are taken out of the hatch and go to the storage area. Yor and Matthew prepare the inflatable boat for them to reach the rendezvous and Matthew gives Zeb instructions to stay safe. After bidding goodbye to their bodyguards, Zeb, Olka, and Gram leave Princess Lorelei.[10]

Zeb is a loyal follower to Olka, continuing to follow her despite being given the safer opportunity to follow Leonardo Hapoon after he took over her family's organization. They first met when they were kids during the aftermath of the East-West war, where she gave him a piece of bread. Zeb has a crush on Olka, though she appears to be oblivious to his feelings. However, even in those moments when Zeb almost gives himself away, he blushes and tries in every possible way to hide his feelings under other reasons why he should be with her.
Zeb deeply cares for Olka, as when he noticed that she was still scared after the first attack from the enemy assassins, Zeb exaggerates his fear to help her and Gram calm down, and later uses his own body to shield her and Gram when they are getting shot at.
Yor Forger[]
Zeb was initially doubtful of Yor's abilities to protect Olka, but after watching her strength, he trusts her as a capable bodyguard to protect and help them survive until their rendezvous.
