Yor's Gripe[]

Yor's coworkers learn of her lack of gripes with Loid

At Berlint City Hall, Camilla and Millie are stuck working overtime, prompting Yor and Sharon to stay behind and help them finish. After completing their work, the women decide to go out for dinner and invite Yor along. During the mixer, Yor quickly becomes drunk, and Camilla and Millie press her about any gripes she might have with Loid, only to be surprised when she admits she has none. After her coworkers share their own complaints about their partners, Yor attempts to fit in by fabricating a gripe, even briefly leaving the restaurant while drunkenly imagining killing Loid to maintain her cover identity, but she immediately retracts the thought.

Ultimately, the ladies accept Yor's "lovey-dovey" marriage and tease her, explaining that giving a partner a welcome home kiss is normal between couples. This revelation shocks Yor, and when she later returns home, she faints at the mere thought of doing so. Loid catches her before she falls, but an extremely flustered Yor ends up crashing around the house to avoid accidentally hurting him, leaving Loid utterly bewildered.[2]

The next day, Yor wakes up and worries that she made a fool of herself in front of Loid the night before. After Anya leaves with Becky and Martha to the zoo, Loid sees Yor creeping into the living room. Worried that her drunken state was out of dissatisfaction with him, he asks Yor to tell him any concerns she has about their life together. Yor remembers her conversation about gripes with her coworkers, so she attempts to have one by vaguely saying that she has problems with everything and declares she is dissatisfied with her life with Loid, shocking him.

Just as she says this, Yuri bursts into the house and is shocked by what he hears. A confusing discussion follows as Loid attempts to smooth things over with Yor, who insists on having a gripe while Yuri continues to yell at him. The conversation abruptly ends when Loid gets an emergency call and promptly leaves for Berlint General Hospital. Suspecting Loid of cheating, Yuri convinces Yor to tail him, but is forced to withdraw after receiving an emergency summons order from the Lieutenant. After Yor follows Loid to the hospital, she finally sobers up, realizes that griping is pointless, and heads home.

A mole steals top-secret files from WISE

At the hospital, Fiona reports to Loid that a mole from WISE HQ in Westalis has stolen top-secret files, one of which was a coded map regarding agents' operational activities in Ostania, including Operation Strix. At the same time, Yuri and other SSS agents are ordered by the Boss to ensure the mole's security upon crossing the border.[3]

The Chase for the Mole[]

The mole is revealed to be Winston Wheeler, a talented spy whose abilities are praised by Twilight himself. Acting on intelligence from their own mole within the SSS, WISE traces Winston's planned meeting with the SSS to Shellbury in northwestern Ostania. On the way, Fiona suggests pulling the plug on every operation in Ostania and restarting with a clean slate, but Loid refuses, arguing that doing so would erase years of progress toward Operation Strix and their goal of reaching Donovan Desmond.

Yuri meets Twilight disguised as Winston

As WISE and the SSS converge on Shellbury, Loid is assigned to prevent the SSS from meeting Winston. At the same time, Winston receives orders to meet at the city's hotel. Disguising himself as Winston, Loid surveys the area from a distance and spots WISE agents lying in wait to apprehend the real spy. To buy them time, Loid approaches Yuri while posing as Winston and requests that the meeting location be changed to a nearby park.[1]

At the park, "Winston" and the SSS agents begin questioning one another's identities. When Loid cites a green tie and a "yellow" gemstone tiepin as the agreed signals, the agents relay to the Boss at HQ, who speaks with Jeffrey, an officer in their ranks. The Boss reveals that the gemstone's color was never disclosed to the field agents and that different colors were deliberately given to a few officers within their communication routes to identify any leaks, thus exposing Jeffrey as the mole leaking information to WISE. Upon learning that Twilight is impersonating Winston, the SSS agents prepare to capture him.[4]

Yuri and Twilight's confrontation

Loid escapes the SSS's grasp as he triggers several hidden traps around the park to impede them. He then disguises himself as Yuri and redirects the SSS before heading into the sewers. The real Yuri arrives, discovers Loid's trail, and follows him. He is almost killed by Loid, who hesitates upon seeing him. While both men are taken aback by their sudden appearances, they nevertheless exchange gunfire. At the Forger home, Yor is still rattled by Yuri's suggestion that Loid is having an affair and wonders to herself if Loid will be coming home late.[5]

Yuri injures Loid's right arm, while Loid shoots Yuri's gun away, and the two quickly enter hand-to-hand combat. After knocking down Yuri multiple times, Loid is surprised by Yuri's endurance, but ultimately comes out on top as Yuri finally collapses. Loid prepares to deal the finishing blow, but after hearing Yuri unconsciously apologize to Yor, he spares him and disappears further down the sewers.

Fiona discovers Winston

Meanwhile, WISE attempts to intercept Winston at the hotel, but he does not appear. Fiona and the WISE Agent adjust tactics, with the Agent disguising himself as Gascoigne, the SSS officer that Winston is supposed to meet, in order to draw him out. Winston, who has been waiting for a signal, notices "Gascoigne" leaving and tails him under the possibility that the meetup location changed. Still unable to lure him out, the WISE agents stage a car accident. By observing the onlookers' reactions to the scene, Fiona finally identifies Winston. Realizing he has been discovered, Winston attempts to escape but is cornered by Fiona and fellow agent Red 4.[6]

With nowhere to run, Winston surrenders. Fiona has Red 4 secure him by tying his hands behind his back and, after recovering the stolen files, begins moving Winston since he might have the intel memorized. In that instant, Winston jumps over his restrained hands and uses his binds to take Red 4 hostage, though Fiona remains unfazed. When the WISE Agent arrives, Winston takes the chance to escape, throwing Red 4 at Fiona and jumping down the railing to the level below. After freeing himself with the knife the agent dropped, Winston escapes into a sewage pipe, prompting Fiona to call for backup and chase after him.

Inside the sewer, Loid, still disguised as Yuri, tries to reach a safe zone until he starts hearing the footsteps of someone being pursued. When Winston ambushes him, Loid tries to maintain his cover as Yuri, but his lies are immediately seen through. Realizing he is talking to Twilight, Winston decides to unmask him. The two fight, and Winston gains the upper hand. Fiona arrives just as Winston is about to unmask Loid and stops him in his tracks with a furious stomp.[7]

Elsewhere, Yuri is awoken by his teammate, Chloe, and the Lieutenant. Knowing Yuri was defeated by Twilight, the Lieutenant has Chloe bring Yuri to the surface for medical treatment and goes after him alone. On their way out, Yuri wonders why he was not killed, but cannot yet put his finger on what that would suggest.

Back in the sewer, Fiona aims her gun at Winston, who uses Loid as leverage and forces her to disarm. He notes her attachment to Twilight and claims such emotions will prevent her from ever surpassing him. Enraged, Fiona attacks. Despite Winston predicting her moves, her anger breaks her body's natural limits, and she delivers a blow so powerful that it fractures her arm and overwhelms him.[8] Fiona declares Winston weak for his inability to trust anyone and how much Twilight motivates her, saying it is why he will lose. Despite breaking her leg and dislocating her other arm, Fiona defeats Winston with another powerful strike and knocks him to the ground.[9]

As Fiona prepares to finish him, Loid regains consciousness and stops her. After restraining Winston together, Fiona panics at the thought of Loid hearing her outburst, but he is completely unaware. They then discuss their mission, with Loid reasoning to Fiona that he was unable to kill Yuri without compromising Yor and Operation Strix. After the WISE Agent arrives, the agents quickly flee Shellbury with Winston in tow. On the way back, the WISE Agent asks Loid to join him for a drink, but Loid declines, noting that he left home on the pretext of a work emergency and needs to return promptly to fix his problem with Yor.

Afterward[]

While the agents head off with Winston, Loid returns to the Forger residence and braces for Yor's anger. Instead, she cheerfully welcomes him back, leaving him to unconsciously collapse in relief. When Yor notices his injury, Loid quickly makes up an excuse for it. After asking about Anya, he apologizes for Yor's "gripes," only for Yor to admit that she made them up to appear normal. Stunned, Loid drops to the floor again. Yor worriedly asks if he needs an ambulance, but Loid declines and asks her to handle the housework for the next two days, which she happily agrees to. Smiling, Yor explains that she does not want to gripe, but rather share Loid's burdens. Although Loid tells her he is relieved to hear that, he still feels he must remain perfect, especially after his fights with Winston and Yuri.

Their conversation is interrupted when Yuri barges in with his injuries. As Loid prepares tea, Yuri notices his hurt arm. Recalling that he shot Twilight in the right arm earlier and that the spy might be someone familiar, Yuri forcefully checks Loid's sleeve for a bandage or wound but finds nothing. When Yor questions him, Yuri makes up an excuse about protecting Loid before she ushers him out and urges Loid to shower.

In the bathroom, it is revealed that Loid had disguised his wound. Realizing that Yuri could tell he was injured, Loid reminds himself that a spy is as good as dead if he allows a seed of doubt to take root in someone else and urges himself to pull himself together. After showering, Loid smells something burning and fears Yuri has returned. Instead, he finds Yor has accidentally set his shirt on fire while ironing, prompting Loid to collapse on the floor once more.[10]

The next morning, Fiona has been admitted to Berlint General Hospital to recover from her injuries and is given a private room by Director Gorey, whose attempts to spend time alone with her she firmly refuses. She is later visited by Sylvia, who has infiltrated as a nurse to temporarily cover Fiona and Loid's work at the hospital. Sylvia reports that Fiona's injuries are less severe than initially feared and that she will be back to work in due time, which Fiona attributes to her training for her revenge match with Yor. After congratulating her on completing the mission, Sylvia urges Fiona not to risk her life so recklessly, saying she is a cherished and adored subordinate. Before leaving, Sylvia subtly acknowledges Fiona's feelings for Loid, leaving Fiona flustered and panicked.

Meanwhile, at the Forger residence, the family stays home to let Loid rest. After Anya and Bond get their hair brushed by Yor, Franky arrives to deliver some stuff for Loid, and Anya wants to see his hair brushed. The group causes a commotion, and Loid comes out of his room to see before quickly returning inside in exhaustion.[11]

Damian's Gift[]

Anya stops Damian from leaving with the cakes

At Eden, Damian has prepared a bag of cakes to repay his debt to Anya, but wants to give it to her privately to save himself from embarrassment. Reading his mind, Anya invites him to a meeting. However, Becky, Ewen, and Emile interfere, making Damian want to give up and leave, but he gets stopped by Anya. The pair is caught out of class by Henry Henderson, who confiscates the cakes and tells them to see him after class for a written apology.

After they finish writing their apology, Henderson invites the kids to join him for tea with Damian's cakes. While discussing the cakes, Damian recalls a past conversation with his butler, Jeeves, where he learned that they were procured by Melinda, who also left a message hoping for Damian and Anya to become closer. After eating, Anya offers to be friends with Damian, who asks why she wanted to meet with him earlier. Damian gets embarrassed while imagining that Anya likes him, which creeps her out and causes them both to retract their offers of friendship.[12]

Yuri's Dilemma[]

After many losses, Yuri starts losing faith in himself

Brought down by his losses to Twilight and Yor kicking him out of the Forger home, Yuri begins doubting his abilities, especially his fighting prowess. The Lieutenant points out the one advantage from Yuri's most recent clash: wounding Twilight, which has allowed the SSS to start a manhunt for suspects with a similar injury. Chloe arrives with Bobby Bockle, whom she believes could be a Twilight suspect, but he is completely off the mark. Yuri helps Chloe with the interrogation, during which he harshly belittles Bobby and threatens him with torture until he reveals the base of his organization, the Chicken Circle.

Yuri and Chloe head out to investigate the base together. On the way there, Chloe questions Yuri's poor mood and reminisces about their college days together, remarking how little he has changed as an impertinent young man. When they pass by Yor on the street, Yuri hides, and Chloe, confused, jokes that they could pretend to be dating if Yor saw them. Annoyed, Yuri dismisses the idea, but Chloe tells him that if she were Yor, she would want him to be happy.

At the Chicken Circle's base, Yuri charges in recklessly, desperate to discover how to become strong enough to defeat Twilight. While he is distracted, an enemy attempts to ambush him, but Chloe intervenes. She then slaps Yuri for his carelessness, scolding him for thinking only about himself and reminding him how devastated Yor would be if he died. Chloe urges him to prove to Yor that he can protect himself. Remembering how Yor trained to improve her dodging, Yuri resolves to do the same.

At home, Yuri begins training until he is visited by Yor, who wants to apologize for kicking him out and brings him home cooking. After eating a dish Loid prepared, Yuri curses his brother-in-law and briefly considers trying to get him arrested before stopping to think how Yor would feel. He asks Yor what she thinks of Loid, and when she stammers nervously, Yuri interprets it as proof that she hates him.[13]
