Loid and Bond escape from the burning building

Loid, with Franky's help, begins doing guard dog training with Bond. However, Bond becomes forlorn when Loid wants to do more training. Franky suggests that they might be reminding Bond of his bad memories at Project Apple and recommends making things fun for him, so Loid takes Bond on a walk. Bond has visions of misfortunes happening to random civilians and tries to prevent them, but he only makes himself look bad to Loid, who is confused by his actions. Suddenly, Bond foresees an apartment in flames as a woman cries out for her "Daisy." Bond tracks the scent and gets Loid to follow his directions. Arriving at the burning apartment, Bond gnaws off his leash and runs inside to save Daisy, a pug. Joined by Loid, they try to leave the apartment, but their way out gets blocked by flaming piles of rubble. They escape the building by leaping out of the second-floor window, though Bond slightly catches on fire. After getting doused with water, Bond's skinny form is revealed, which surprises and amuses Loid.

Loid and Bond watch the fruit of their efforts as the dog they saved reunites with her owner, then slip away to avoid the attention. Loid praises Bond for his actions but reminds him to be careful, as the family will worry about him if something happens to him. He apologizes for trying to train Bond so hard and recognizes him as a part of the Forger family.[2] When they return home, Loid lies about how Bond got wet, but Anya learns what they really did and proudly awards them with paper Stellas, dubbing it their "Worked Super Hard on Your Walk" award.[3]

When Yor arrives, Becky begins using seduction techniques she learned from her show on Loid, including pretending to get drunk. However, Yor believes that she somehow got Becky drunk and hurries her to a hospital. Becky stops Yor and reveals her true intentions with Loid, though Yor is surprisingly unbothered by it. After believing Loid likes strong women, Becky attempts to play a strongman game, which Yor destroys when she tries. Hoping to one day be as strong as Yor, Becky becomes her student.[4]

Twilight's Origin[]

Twilight watches his hometown in ruins

The young Twilight watches his hometown in ruins

Years ago, in the eastern region of Luwen in Westalis, a young Twilight plays pretend battles with his friends and aspires to become soldiers together. However, his father is against this wish and says there will not be a war, which other adults tell him and his friends. In Twilight's home, his raising is a point of contention between his father and mother, as the former treats him very strictly. Before Twilight's father heads to the border for work, Twilight lies to him to get some allowance to buy a soldier set to play with his friends, but he quickly becomes racked with guilt. As Twilight resolves to tell his father the truth when he returns, war begins as Luwen gets raided by the Ostanian army. Twilight gets caught in an explosion from a missile, but his soldier's helmet protects him from debris. After reuniting with his mother, he leaves for Kielberg and stays with his relatives, but the family never hears back from his father.

Twilight's realization

Twilight realizes his ignorance

One day, Kielberg is attacked by an air raid that kills Twilight's mother. With nothing left except hatred for Ostania, Twilight later participates in the war by joining the Westalian army under a false identity. While fighting on a mountain, Twilight encounters Franky, who has deserted the Ostanian army. Amused by Franky, Twilight decides to spare his life. They have a conversation that grows hostile when the topic changes to the war's start, but they get interrupted by Ostanian soldiers pursuing Franky. While the men go separate ways, Twilight is affected by Franky's words as his beliefs grow conflicted. While recovering off the front lines, Twilight has a heartfelt reunion with his childhood friends, who have also survived the town bombings and joined the army. However, the reunion is cut short after the friends leave for a failed operation that results in their deaths. After finally losing everyone he knows to the war, Twilight admonishes himself for his blind ignorance and lack of knowledge about the war.

Later, Twilight is approached by a man from military intelligence who is aware of his false identity. The man reveals that he has come to recruit Twilight and threatens to have him court-martialed if he refuses. Twilight accepts the offer and joins their intelligence agency, motivated to make a world without war and where kids do not need to cry. In the present, Twilight, who has been dreaming of his past, gets jolted awake after remembering Sylvia's harsh training. While initially upset after remembering that he fainted because of Anya's Tonitrus, Loid instead focuses on the fact that she has grown closer to Damian and tells her to cherish her friends.[1]

Sylvia strikes Pance Karmer with her belt

Just before leaving for an important East-West cultural exchange event in Westalis, famous Ostanian opera singer Jonas Wellman finds himself under controversy as scandals surrounding him come to light. Sylvia and the WISE agents under her command work to ensure the scandals never reach the West, though she struggles with a naive rookie who believes them. After a new tabloid rebutting Jonas's scandals gets released, the agents turn their attention to a death threat sent to Jonas. While watching live news footage outside Jonas's office, Sylvia spots a suspicious security guard and orders a nearby informant to keep him away from the celebrity. She and other agents then hurry over to intercept the guard, whom Sylvia personally defeats.

While Jonas safely departs for Westalis, the agents discuss the guard, who was also behind the death threat: Pance Karmer. As Pance is a former soldier who turned to vigilantism after his experience in the war, Sylvia warns her agents against having too much pride in having fought for peace. The rookie declares that he will never be ignorant again, but he is shocked to learn that some of Jonas's scandals are true. When he begins demanding answers, Sylvia tells him to find them himself.[8]
