Summary[]
The Forgers' Break and Belle[]
Eden Academy goes on an end-of-term break, making Anya lazy and displeasing Loid, who is quick to make her study. The TV suddenly starts showing news about Belle, a Nordic seal that was first spotted in the Eber River. Belle's appearance has attracted the citizens to come to the river to look at her, and Anya also lights up with the same desire. However, Loid remains adamant against it in front of Anya's requests and tantrums. He tries changing the channels and is sick that they are all covering the seal, but when Yor kindly tells him that such news shows how peaceful the world is, he softens up and decides to take the family to see Belle.
At the river, the Forgers briefly reunite with Becky, Martha, and Wiesel, and they agree to wait for Belle together. However, as time passes, the seal does not appear. Becky becomes irritated and threatens to send a submarine after her but gets held back by Martha, after which they decide to leave. Now left to wait by themselves, Loid and Yor sit on the grass to rest while Anya and Bond run to the riverbank to play, where they find Belle nearby.
Loid and Yor find the two shortly after and also notice the seal, who keeps her distance from the Forgers. Reading her thoughts, Anya notices that Belle is afraid of them, so the family sits quietly and leaves her be. Gradually, Belle gets used to the presence of the Forgers, demonstrating to them the inherent cuteness and laziness of seals. The Forgers watch her, sharing their admiration and reasoning about how Belle ended up on the river alone. When Yor decides to point Belle the way to the ocean, the seal surprises the family with her intelligence, leaving them a thank-you crawfish before swimming away in the indicated direction. Belle's act makes Loid remember his past conversation with Sylvia about Project Apple, but his thoughts do not reach the end after he watches Bond get his nose pinched by the crawfish. Having received their desired meeting with Belle, the Forgers return home.[1]
Damian's Vacation[]
Meanwhile, Damian is spending his break studying in the National Library, much to the annoyance of his friends, Ewen and Emile. While he tries to read up more on History, he is informed that a former Eden student once earned a Stella Star while making a discovery on an archaeological trip. This story inspires Damian to go a forest on an archaeological trip of his own, followed by his friends as well as his and their butlers. Without much progress, Damian wants to give up after running into various wildlife. However, he then stumbles into a giant plant known as a "Geschocran," also known as a "Witch's Crib." It is not Stella-worthy, but it is still a rare sight, so the three boys document the flower and head home.
On the way back, Damian's butler, Jeeves, teases Damian about his reluctances to go home as well as his dance with Anya during the end-of-term gala.[2]
Franky's Daily Life[]
Franky starts his day like usual, working on his inventions and manning his tobacco stand, where he meets with both regular and special customers. After spending some time talking with Fiona and looking after Anya and Bond for Loid, Franky goes to spend his earnings at the racetrack, which he ends up losing. The dejected Franky decides to resume his work by meeting with the racetrack teller, a fellow informant. The teller informs Franky that one of his intel routes is unavailable due to interference from the SSS and gives him two movie tickets as an apology. With the tickets, Franky miraculously scores a movie date with an acquaintance, Priscilla. However, shortly before the date, Franky is informed that the teller got raided by the SSS.
Although Franky seemingly wants nothing to do with it to focus on his date, he ends up canceling it to rescue the teller from the SSS's clutches. Using his wits, gadgets, and knowledge of the city, Franky and the teller escape from the organization while also freeing other captured informants from their information network. Having also scheduled a dinner date with Priscilla that night, Franky hurries to meet with her, only to find out that she got herself a boyfriend with the movie tickets Franky gave her. While heartbroken at how things turned out, Franky is able to see the good things that he did today. The teller surprises Franky to congratulate him on getting a girlfriend, only to realize that it failed. To make up for things, the teller and Franky go watch another movie, but the men are quickly disappointed when it turns out to be a romance drama.[3]
The Desmonds' Dinner[]
Damian decides to return to his family estate. Although disappointed at not being able to talk with Demetrius, he finds joy in spending time with his pet dog Max. Damian is then informed by his butlers that Donovan has also returned home and will be holding a dinner with the entire family, including Melinda. The dinner is an awkward one for the estranged family, with Donovan mostly remaining silent and staring at the family, Melinda being nervous the entire time while barely touching her food, Demetrius simply keeping to himself while eating, and all the while Damian fails to spark any conversation.
After Demetrius and Melinda finish their meals and leave the table, Donovan suddenly brightens up as he says the night was worthwhile and instructs Damian to eat his food properly before leaving. While elated with his father's acknowledgment, Damian wonders what he meant by "worthwhile," which Jeeves interprets as enjoyment at having a meal with the family. However, Donovan's true intentions are unclear as he walks through the manor's halls with a low expression.[4]
The Winter Festival[]
Berlint's Annual Winter Sheep Festival has arrived, hosted by the Lady Patriots Society. As such, Loid takes the Forger family there in the hopes of running into Melinda and progressing Plan C, much to Anya's dismay. Damian is also at the festival with Ewen, Emile, and their butlers. As the groups run into each other, Loid develops plans to get closer to Donovan through the boys' butlers. As Becky, George, and Bill arrive with their families, Loid continues to scheme for ways to forge new connections with them for his mission.
Families from Eden recognize the famous students and their parents and quickly surround them, giving Loid even more potential connections. Damian gets upset when he and Anya's families are compared on the same level, so he challenges her to a game of ring toss, declaring that whoever loses will have to leave the festival grounds. Anya accepts the challenge, and the rest of the children in the group decide to participate as well. While the parents and guardians happily watch the kids play together, Loid can only think of how Anya's school connections could benefit his mission. However, after hearing Jeeves's desire to see the children unburdened by their parents and find their own happiness, Loid realizes he has been neglecting Anya's and feels a pang of guilt.
Damian ends up winning the challenge but decides to let Anya stay after seeing her crying face. Jeeves takes a step further and offers that the group stick together. While they walk around, Becky sees a hall of clairvoyants and asks Anya to go there with her to have their fortunes read. With the boys and men deciding to do something else, the girls go to the tent with Martha and Yor. The group splits up, as they want to see different fortune tellers, so Yor and Anya visit Lunaluna☽Selena, a rookie fortune teller. Upon meeting the fortune teller, they quickly learn that she is actually a disguised Melinda.[5]
