Choosing a Cake for World Peace!?[]
After finishing work, Loid buys cakes recommended by his colleagues at the hospital as a souvenir for Anya and Yor and brings them home for the family of three. Anya is delighted by the colorful, jewel-like cakes, but all three cakes look so delicious that it is difficult for her to choose one. Wanting to give Anya the opportunity to develop her decision-making skills, Loid tries to get her to choose a cake.
Summary[]
After completing another mission for WISE, Loid returns home. On the way, he sees a cake shop his colleagues from Berlint General Hospital previously mentioned and decides to buy cakes for Anya and Yor. When he arrives home, Loid tells his family about the cakes he bought, but instructs Anya to finish her dinner before having some.
After dinner, Loid presents the three cakes he bought: a fruit tart, a nuts and chocolate mousse, and a chiffon cake with four types of cheese. When Anya eagerly tries to pick one, Loid insists she decide for herself, believing it will improve her academic ability. He also tells her the special qualities of each cake, but it only makes Anya's choice more difficult.
Twenty minutes later, Anya is still undecided, which bothers Loid. Yor tells him that all children are like that and fondly recalls how happy Yuri would always be whenever she made him a cake. When Loid checks on Anya, he is shocked when she says she wants to eat all three. Loid tries to dissuade her, thinking about the importance of sharing. Overhearing his thoughts through her telepathy, Anya decides that the family should share them instead and cuts each cake into three equal slices (while giving herself larger portions). Although it took her a while to reach a solution, Loid believes she made the right decision.
After enjoying the cakes, Anya asks Loid to bring home another souvenir next time. Believing she wants to eat more cakes, Loid suggests that they visit the shop over the weekend. However, to his and Yor's surprise, Anya says she is tired of cakes and has heartburn, so she would rather have peanuts instead. An exasperated Loid points out that her heartburn was due to her oversized portions, but he quickly calms himself. While rationalizing that Anya managed to develop her decision-making skills from this experience, he cannot help but feel disappointed and betrayed. Seeing his pained expression, Yor gets some coffee for Loid and another serving of hot cocoa for Anya. Finding Anya's actions incomprehensible, Loid concludes that he cannot understand children.
