The unnamed SSS Lieutenant is one of the supporting characters of the SPY x FAMILY series. He is a scarred man who is a lieutenant working with the State Security Service and Yuri Briar's senior officer.
Appearance[]
The Lieutenant is a tall man of intimidating stature. He has short blond hair in an undercut and rectangular-shaped blue eyes with a dark outline. He also has a slim face with defined cheekbones. His distinguishing feature is two stitched scars on the left side of his face, which go down from his forehead to under his eye.
He mainly appears wearing his standard SSS uniform. When going outside, he wears a dark jacket with a black turtleneck underneath, a flat cap, black gloves, and glasses.
Personality[]
The Lieutenant is stern and dedicated to the purpose of his job in the SSS: keeping the "peace" by catching traitors and spies from the West, most notoriously Twilight. While this may be the case, he also cares about his fellow officers, such as his junior, Yuri, whom he tends to get concerned about. When the Leader orders him to cover up all information about the developing bus hijacking crisis, the Lieutenant remains silent and stone-faced while his subordinates look nervously.[2]
Abilities and Skills[]
Interrogation: As a counterintelligence agent, the Lieutenant works in interrogating those who are suspected of espionage. He shows no remorse in his methods and will beat and torture them in order to obtain the information he is seeking.

Yuri is the Lieutenant's junior in the SSS. Working closely with the young man, the Lieutenant often finds himself looking after him as a mentor and making sure to keep him in check. The Lieutenant is aware of Yuri's bad habits and urges him to grow out of them: from his drinking, overworking, and sister complex. Despite these quirks, the Lieutenant acknowledges Yuri's efficiency as an intelligence agent and has been looking out for him. The Lieutenant often insists to Yuri that he should rest whenever he overworks himself, advising him to be careful after hearing about him getting injured, and even tended to Yuri's care after he caught a cold while pursuing a criminal.

Twilight[]
One of the Lieutenant's goals is to capture Twilight, the "great threat to the East." Unbeknownst to him, the master spy had once impersonated him to interrogate Yor.[1] During the mission to secure Winston Wheeler, the Lieutenant and Yuri follow Twilight's path down the sewers, with Yuri going ahead by himself while the Lieutenant calls for backup. The Lieutenant and Chloe later find Yuri beaten by Twilight, and he attempts to chase after him alone but fails.
