— Olka to Yor Forger[1]
|
Olka Gretcher (オルカ・グレッチャー, Oruka Gurecchā?) is one of the last two remaining members of the Gretcher crime family alongside her only son Gram Gretcher.
Looking to leave her old life behind with her son, Olka becomes Yor Forger's client and is placed under the assassin's protection from hitmen while aboard the Princess Lorelei cruise ship to seek asylum in another country. She and her follower Zeb traveled as the "Grey Family," with Olka using the alias Shaty Grey (シャティ・グレイ, Shati Gurei?) and pretending to be Zeb's wife.
Appearance[]
Olka is a young woman wearing glasses with short hair and messy bangs. However, her current appearance is a disguise to help her travel incognito. In an old photo of her, she is shown to originally have long black hair tied into a low ponytail.
Due to her need to hide and avoid the assassins, Olka constantly changed her clothes, not having any standard clothing. In her first appearance, her clothing consisted of an open white coat with a dress and black heels[2], and later wore a red dress in the evening. Before leaving the ship, she puts on a black wig tied with a bow on the back.[3]
Personality[]
Olka is shown to be a kind and generous woman who is willing to do anything to protect the ones she loves and to save anyone who is needed, as she gave Zeb some food to save him when they were younger. When Yor first met her, she seemed quite serious and direct (and is understood as she lost most of her family), but she still was kind toward her and respected her motives. As time passes by, Olka begins to trust more in Yor and her capabilities, but also starts feeling fright for everything going around the cruise and her situation, but tries her best to stay calm and relaxed to keep her child calm too.
History[]
The Gretcher family used to manage Ostania's underworld in an honorable fashion. Olka grew up during the second war between Ostania and Westalis, and her family ran a black market that distributed food to people on the streets after it ended. During this time, Olka encountered Zeb and secretly gave him a loaf of bread to eat, earning his loyalty.
In a recent incident, Olka's father and two brothers were killed in an internal dispute. Shortly after, Leonardo Hapoon took over the organization and put a bounty on Olka and Gram's heads. Going into hiding, the two sought temporary shelter in a safe house. Wanting to leave her life behind and live peacefully with Gram, Olka chose to escape and seek asylum in a foreign country, by being a passenger of the Princess Lorelei, where at the port of disembarkation, she will take another ship that will take her to the country. Olka and Gram are accompanied by Zeb, who pretends to be her husband, and the three disguise themselves as the "Grey Family." As a favor to her father, the Shopkeeper of the Garden assigns two of his assassins to bodyguard her on the ship.[4]
Synopsis[]
Cruise Adventure Arc[]
Under the guise of being hosted for an enticement campaign, the Greys board Princess Lorelei. At their room, they meet with the group from Berlint City Hall, with Matthew McMahon (the other bodyguard for the Gretchers) introducing himself as the Director of Policy, two oblivious bureaucrats from their business development team, and Yor Forger to assist Olka. Zeb, now going by Furseal Grey, presents himself as a member of Arhaus Department Stores and Olka as his wife, Shaty. The two bureaucrats offer to give the Greys a tour of the ship, though Olka refuses while citing the need to take care of her baby.
Alone with Yor, Olka watches the assassin inspect the suite for possible entry and escape routes. The two begin to talk, with Yor accidentally calling her Olka, which the latter quickly corrects. Olka reveals Furseal's true identity and talks about her desire to live a quiet life with her son. Olka then requests that she and her son go outside briefly. Yor is initially hesitant, but Olka says their enemy does not know what she looks like and knows that Yor will protect her, and Yor accepts. As they prepare to leave, Yor nervously looks around outside the door. Olka questions her suspicious-looking actions and is surprised to learn that Yor has a family who are also aboard the ship.
Yor explains to Olka that her family's presence on the ship is a coincidence and that they are unaware of her real job. Olka sees Yor's nervousness and asks if they are only for her cover identity, which Yor answers with a tender look. Gram starts to cry, reminding Yor of their plan to go outside. Olka stops Yor to lend some clothes for a disguise. When they go outside for fresh air, Olka is wistful about leaving her old life behind. Her son starts to sneeze, so they decide to head back. Yor promises to give it her all and finish the job for Olka and her son. Her words move Olka, so she reveals Gram's name and offers to let Yor hold him on their way back.[2]
Later, the city hall group and the Grey family have dinner at a fancy restaurant. After dinner, Yor escorts Olka and Gram back to their room. Once inside, Olka notes there has not been any sign of trouble the entire day, but Yor warns her that they must keep their guard up as they have no idea of where the enemy is or their plan. She predicts that the enemy will try attacking at the last possible minute on the next day. Olka asks what everyone else will do if she manages to escape safely, and Yor explains their prepared cover story. Olka then asks if Yor will see her family after she completes her mission, as the ship will stop at a resort island on the third day. She suggests that Yor could use it to spend time with her family, though Yor is hesitant about it. As Olka decides to get changed for the night, the women hear a mysterious knock on the door.[5]
Yor looks through the peephole and sees a waiter with room service. Yor is relieved and informs Olka, who says she did not order anything. Yor hears a gun click behind the door and quickly moves Olka and Gram to safety, much to her shock. Matthew and Yor kill the assassin and retrieve his corpse, after which Matthew informs the group that the itinerary got leaked and there are multiple enemies aboard the ship. He directs Yor to take Olka, Gram, and Zeb to a vacant room in the second-class suite while he covers up the mess. After receiving domino masks to disguise themselves, Yor, Olka, Zeb, and Gram leave for the second deck lounge.
At the lounge, which is hosting a masquerade ball, the group passes through the area. An assassin is dispatched to kill Olka, but Yor stops him, grabbing his hand. She acts as if she was invited to a dance and dances the man away from Olka. Yor returns to her, Gram, and Zeb and guides them through the shopping promenade to the second-class area.[6] There, Yor protects the group from a surprise attack by the assassin, Sickle-and-Chain Barnaby[7]. Yor defeats him before resuming their move to the new room.[8]
After arriving at their new room, Yor assures the group that it is secure and has everything they need to hole up safely until the rendezvous. Gram starts to cry in fear, and Olka tries to comfort him, though she herself is also terrified. Zeb notices them and begins exclaiming how scared he was of their attackers. Olka and Gram disapprove of Zeb's cowardice, while he is satisfied seeing them calm down.
Olka asks Zeb why he came with them instead of joining the gang's new boss. Zeb says he does not forget how much he owes to the previous boss. He recalls how he would have been dead if not for the black market the Gretcher family ran after the war and flashes back to a young Olka secretly giving him bread. Zeb remembers this fondly and says it is all the reason he needs to be with her. Zeb promises to protect Olka from harm but quickly becomes scared when he hears a knock on the door and hides behind Olka. Behind the door is Matthew, who instructs Olka and the others to rest while he and Yor stand on guard. Olka goes to bed with Gram, but she does not sleep.[9]
On the second day, Olka and the others wait in the room until they get a call from Matthew. Yor answers the phone and informs the others that they got the all-ready signal from the ship at the rendezvous. While it will be in four hours, Yor tells Olka and Zeb to prepare and change into their disguises. After seeing that the coast is clear, Yor, Olka, Gram, and Zeb head out.[10]
As the fireworks show is about to commence, the group walks through the ship's halls to get to Storage Area 3, where Olka will depart from the boat and to the rendezvous ship, hoping to proceed under the cover of the fireworks. As the show starts, the group is startled by the sudden noise and Gram starts to cry, so Olka coos her baby telling him how beautiful the fireworks are. After calming down, they continue onward. From above, a sniper watches them and prepares to shoot Olka as another firework goes off. Yor quickly grabs Olka out of the way but gets grazed by the shot. After fending off another assassin, Yor asks Olka and the others if they are alright. Suddenly, a large number of assassins reveal themselves and surround the group.[11]
As assassins surround them, the group is saved by Matthew's arrival, who obtains a sniper and begins killing their foes. He shoots open a nearby hatch, which Yor orders the others to hide inside. However, while Yor gets held back by interferences from other assassins, Olka, Gram, and Zeb are confronted by an assassin aiming his gun at them. Zeb quickly grabs Olka and shields her from the bullets fired. As they tumble inside the hatch, Zeb shuts the cover. Olka worriedly asks Zeb if he is okay, but he reveals that he wore a bulletproof vest and complains about the pain, prompting Olka to scold him for being so reckless.[12]
After Yor and Matthew exterminate all the enemy assassins, Olka and Zeb are retrieved from the hatch and head to the storage area, where Yor and Matthew prepare the inflatable boat for them. While Matthew gives Zeb instructions, Yor wishes Olka a great life on the other side and receives a hug as a thanks. Despite Yor's protests because of her soiled hands, Olka has her hug Gram, saying that her hands are the reason he has a future. Yor appreciates the gesture and embraces the child, remarking how warm he is. Before leaving, Olka says she will pray for Yor and her family to find peace and happiness.[1]
Relationships[]
Gram Gretcher[]
Gram is Olka's only son, whom she named after her father. After the Gretcher Crime Family falls and her family members are killed due to infighting, Olka becomes tired of the gangster life and decides she simply wants to live a quiet life with Gram. After changing her appearance, Olka is amazed that Gram still recognizes her as his mother, but admits to being a little sad that she will never be told how much they like alike due to her different face. Olka wishes only the best for her son and tries to put up a brave front for him as their group encounters many threats throughout their stay on the cruise ship.
Zeb[]
In the past, Olka saved Zeb from starvation when she found him on the street and secretly brought him bread. Since then, Zeb has been deeply loyal to Olka, continuing to follow her despite being given the safer opportunity to follow the new boss who took over her family's organization. Olka is touched that Zeb chose to stay with her due to personal reasons, but is disappointed when he acts cowardly, even urging Gram not to grow up to be like him. When Zeb risks his life and takes three bullets to the back to protect Olka and her son, Olka is initially terrified for his life, but after he reveals he wore a bulletproof vest, she scolds him for being reckless. She is oblivious to his crush on her.
Yor Forger[]
Yor Forger is tasked with protecting Olka aboard the Princess Lorelei. When the two women first meet, Olka initially recognizes Yor simply as her bodyguard, calling her "one of them." However, as they talk more, Olka convinces Yor to let her and Gram outside for a bit and learns that Yor is also a mother, as her husband and child are also aboard the ship. Olka sees Yor visibly worried about being seen by her family and asks if they are just a cover for her. Seeing Yor's reaction and answer to her question, Olka appears to empathize with her feelings and gives her a disguise for them to wear outside their room, calling themselves "two mom friends hanging out." As they head back, Yor promises to complete her job without fail and protect Olka and Gram. Olka is touched and reciprocates by revealing Gram's name, even offering to let Yor hold him.
On the night of their first day, Yor and Olka discuss their plan to protect her, after which Yor says Gram can play as much as he wants after they are confirmed to be safe. Olka comments that Yor does not seem to be the underworld type and asks what she will do after their bodyguard mission is complete, then suggests that Yor could spend the last day of the cruise with her family on the resort island. In the end, Yor and Matthew successfully protect Olka and Gram from all the assassins. As they prepare to leave, Olka hugs Yor and expresses her gratefulness. She also has Yor hug Gram despite their protector's bloody hands, assuring her that those hands have guaranteed his future. Before parting ways, Olka tells Yor that she will pray for her and her family to find peace and happiness.
