— Jeeves to Damian Desmond[1]
|
Jeeves ( ジーブス, Jivuzu?) is a butler for the Desmond Family, typically serving Damian.
Appearance[]
Jeeves is a tall, handsome man with neatly styled black hair swept to one side. He is always seen dressed in a black tuxedo with a tie, consistently maintaining a formal appearance in the presence of the Desmond family.
Personality[]
Jeeves is a highly skilled and dependable butler, characterized by his commitment to the Desmond family. Despite his role as a servant, Jeeves exhibits remarkable initiative and resourcefulness, capable of adapting to any situation—whether preparing gourmet meals in the middle of a forest or using his quick reflexes to protect Damian from danger. His ability to stay calm under pressure, combined with his physical endurance and strength, makes him a formidable presence.
Jeeves also seems to have a close and communicative relationship with both Melinda and Damian, often discussing Damian's daily activities with Melinda and relying on her judgment for matters concerning the family, as seen when Melinda personally selects cakes at Damian's request, which Jeeves then delivers. Also, Jeeves worries for Damian due to his family being apart most of the time, often trying to cheer him up, even if it means lying to him. While he maintains a professional distance, Jeeves's actions reveal a deep sense of loyalty and care for the Desmonds, particularly towards Damian, whom he constantly watches over and protects.
History[]
Not much is known about Jeeves, aside from his status as a servant of the Desmonds for several years. It is implied that at some point his main responsibility became to take care of Damian and periodically accompany him as a bodyguard.
Synopsis[]
Midterm Exams Arc[]
At the end of the school day, Damian calls Jeeves from his dorm for an update on his dog, Max. Jeeves asks Damian if he will be returning to the manor for the upcoming holiday, but the young boy refuses to instead focus on studying, reasoning that his father will not be there, even after Jeeves says that Demetrius will be home. Damian suddenly asks Jeeves if Donovan had anything to say about the incident where he got punched in the face by Anya, and after a brief pause, Jeeves tells him that Donovan was concerned for him. Damian thanks his butler and hangs up, but calls him a liar in his thoughts, as he believes that his father could care less about him.[2]
Red Circus Arc[]
After Damian and his fellow first years are rescued from being hostages of the Red Circus organization, the dorm students are given homestay passes for the night to be with their families. Damian is picked up by Melinda and Jeeves, who take him home. There, Melinda cooks all of Damian's dinner for the night but does not stay afterward, leaving Damian to have dinner alone. Jeeves and another butler watch over Damian during his mealtime, and Jeeves explains why Melinda is not present. However, he makes sure to tell his young master that she cooked every dish for him, which cheers up Damian's mood.[3]
Mole Hunt Arc[]
To repay the "debt" that he owes Anya, Damian decides to get her the finest tea cakes and calls his household staff to procure them. Melinda gets the sweets herself and gives them to Jeeves, who delivers it to Damian at Eden Academy. During Jeeves's call with Damian to confirm that he got the tea cakes, he surprises the boy with the fact that Melinda got them and shares with him her sentiment for Damian and Anya to grow closer.[4]
Term Finals Arc[]
Following Damian's meeting with Demetrius after the term finals awards ceremony, the young boy begins to rethink his older brother's relationship with their father. He recalls hearing (likely from Jeeves) that Demetrius and Donovan were very close in the past.[5]
Current Arc[]
During their end-of-term break, Damian, Emile, and Ewen decide to go on an adventure to a forested area to see if they can find any historical discoveries and earn a Stella, so Jeeves and the Elman and Egeburg butlers accompany them. The other butlers have their doubts about letting their young masters run aimlessly, but Jeeves tells them that they should play along until the boys are satisfied, making them say that Jeeves coddles Damian too much. The group ventures further into the forest, with the butlers supporting the boys. When a snake suddenly appears, Jeeves quickly defends Damian from it. The boy quickly confesses that he never wanted to go out here, frightened by the snakes and bugs. Despite his fear, Damian refuses to go home without a Stella to not sully the Desmond name, and Jeeves watches his young master as he says this.
Jeeves decides to call for a meal break, where the butlers cook a delicious dish for the boys. After their meal, Damian ends up arguing with his friends about staying overnight in the forest, prompting Jeeves to tell Damian to "hear the voices below him" in his position. Frustrated with his lack of progress, Damian decides to put himself in the shoes of an ancient king to open up a path to getting a Stella Star, and Jeeves is taken aback by Damian's acting. Damian is quickly jolted from his spell when a tarantula drops onto his shoulder, causing him to thrash wildly to get it off and start crying that he wants to go home, all the while Jeeves runs after him, looking after the boy and advising him to be strong. After Damian trips, he and his friends look up to see a "Geschocran." Jeeves informs the boys of the plant and suggests documenting it to show their teachers at school.
Having finally made a discovery, the group leaves the forest and heads to their respective private helicopters that they ride home. In Jeeves and Damian's ride, Damian is asked what he wants for dinner, and the exhausted boy requests to go to a restaurant when they return to Berlint. Seeing Damian's mood, Jeeves informs him that none of his family members are home. Damian is surprised and says that he never said anything about not wanting to go, but Jeeves says that he always seems to be finding reasons not to. Damian says he is not trying to avoid them, so Jeeves suggests interacting with Melinda and Demetrius. The mention of his mother prompts Damian to ask if Jeeves has been informing her about Anya. Jeeves teases Damian about his dance with Anya at the end-of-term party and how he agonized over what to wear for it, causing Damian lots of embarrassment as he shakes inside the helicopter.
Abilities and Skills[]
Enhanced Physical Abilities: Jeeves appears to have basic combat skills and impressive reflexes, as demonstrated when he swiftly threw an acorn at a snake that was about to attack Damian, successfully immobilizing it. He also displays considerable endurance and strength, effortlessly carrying a heavy bag on his back for extended periods while constantly chasing after Damian to keep him safe.
Cooking: As a butler, Jeeves possesses exceptional cooking skills and is prepared to whip up any meal on demand. Even in the middle of a forest, Jeeves and the other butlers effortlessly unpack their cooking tools from their bags and prepare a gourmet dish for the children.
Relationships[]
Damian Desmond[]
Jeeves normally serves under Damian's instructions but also guides and cheers him, as he is aware of the estrangement between the family, doing his best to make him believe Donovan is looking out for him and assuring him that Melinda, despite her absence, still cares about him. On occasions, Jeeves accompanies Damian to places where he needs protection.
Melinda Desmond[]
Although Jeeves and Melinda have not been shown interacting directly, it is evident that they communicate more frequently than he does with Donovan. Jeeves often discusses Damian's day with Melinda, including incidents like the day Anya punched Damian, much to the boy’s annoyance. When Damian asks Jeeves for a favor, it seems Melinda is the one who often takes action, as in the case when Damian requested cakes for Anya, Jeeves mentioned that it was Melinda who personally selected the cakes, not him.
Demetrius Desmond[]
Almost nothing is known of their relationship, although it seems Jeeves serves him as a butler as well. He is seen in the past accompanying him and Donovan during one of their study sessions.
Donovan Desmond[]
Jeeves serves as the Desmonds, including Donovan as well. Jeeves often reports to Donovan about how his sons are doing at Eden Academy, even mentioning to him the incident Damian had on the first day of school.

Trivia[]
- Instead of using the name Sebastian, which is a popular name for butlers in Japanese media, Tatsuya Endo gave Jeeves his name after believing it to be the classic butler's name in the West.[6]
- Jeeves shares his Japanese voice actor with the aquarium terrorist and Erik Zacharis.
Quotes[]
- (To the other butlers): "I wonder... this area did draw a lot of interest during the treasure boom, but... well, it's not our place to tell them it's hopeless. Let's play along till they're satisfied, shall we?" [7]
