Overview

General (大将 (たいしょう) , Taishō?) was the codename used by one of Loid Forger's childhood friends. Growing up during the Second East-West War of Unification, he later joined the Westalis Army as a private.

Appearance[]

General was a young man with light brown hair, green eyes, a large nose, and thick eyebrows. As a soldier in the Westalian Army, he had short hair with a side part and wore the standard uniform: a grayish-green military jacket and white dress shirt with a brown belt and black boots.

As a child, General had medium length hair and a cowlick. He typically wore a white dress shirt with black overalls, navy blue shorts, and black shoes.

Personality[]

General had a strong, dominant personality and often acted as the leader of his group of friends. He tended to complain or tease them, especially Loid, over their behavior or the gun toys he used to play with. Despite this, he genuinely cared for his friends and showed his emotions, particularly when he realized his friend was always alive.

History[]

General grew up in Luwen, Eastern Westalis. As a child, he befriended three boys who shared his dream of fighting in the Westalian Army. The group came up with military-inspired code names: "Advisor" (who would later become Loid Forger), "Corporal," and "Major," while the boy was called "General." The four played at an old army storage depot that Loid had found, using it as their secret base. They spent their free time there playing cards and staging mock war games between Ostania and Westalis, with General and Major often taking the Ostanian side since Loid and Corporal always won as Westalis, due to Loid's talent for field tactics.

Days before Luwen's town festival, the boys helped the adults set up the event in exchange for candy. While they worked, General teased Loid about not having a toy soldier kit and pointed out his broken rubber gun, much to his embarrassment. During their next hangout, Loid arrived with the soldier kit in hand. As the boys excitedly prepared for their next war game, Loid suddenly backed out and left to help set up the festival, confusing his friends.[1] They chased after him, but a bomb suddenly struck the depot, the first attack that marked the beginning of the second East-West war. Despite their efforts to look for Loid, the boys were unable to find him.

Years later, General, Corporal, and Major enlisted in the Westalian Army as privates. While stationed away from the frontlines, the trio unexpectedly reunited with Loid. After a heartfelt reunion, Loid expressed his desire to hang out like they used to and invited them to a restaurant that weekend. However, the trio informed him that they were being deployed that night for the Roberts Campaign. When another soldier addressed Loid as "Roland," they were confused, but Loid brushed it off as a nickname. The friends parted ways once more, but not before promising to keep in touch.

The Roberts Campaign ultimately proved to be a rushed and reckless operation that claimed the lives of General, Corporal, and Major. Only their dog tags were returned to Loid. Following their deaths and his recruitment to Westalis's military intelligence, Loid thought of his lost friends and vowed to create a world where children don't have to cry because of war.[2]

Loid's Past Arc[]

After passing out from Anya getting a Tonitrus Bolt, Loid dreams of his past, including his interactions with his childhood friends. When he wakes up, Loid thinks of his friends once again as he tells Anya to take care of hers.[2]

Term Break Arc[]

While attending Berlint's Annual Winter Sheep Festival with his family, Loid recalls an old memory with General, Corporal, and Major at Luwen's town festival after Jeeves and the butlers of the Elman and Egeburg families bid him farewell and hope to meet him again.[3]

Abilities and Skills[]

Military Training: As a soldier in the Westalian Army, General appeared to have received standard military training, such as weapons handling and field survival skills.

Relationships[]

Loid Forger[]

As children, General and Loid, then known by their code names "General" and "Advisor," were close friends who shared a dream of becoming soldiers in the Westalian Army. General often teased Loid, but their friendship was rooted in mutual respect and camaraderie.

After being separated by the bombing of Luwen, General and the others believed Loid had died. Years later, they had a chance reunion with him as soldiers in the Westalian Army. Happy to see their friend alive and the same as always, the friends quickly rekindled their childhood bonds. General and his friends were ultimately killed in the Roberts Campaign, an event that profoundly affected Loid and reinforced his determination to create a world where no child would have to experience the same loss.
