THE FRIENDSHIP SCHEME (MISSION: 6 ナカヨシ作戦, MISSION: 6 Nakayoshi Sakusen?) is the sixth episode of the SPY x FAMILY TV anime series and the sixth episode of the first cour.[1]
Synopsis[]
Anya's uniform is finished. Loid has to go to a WISE strategy meeting, so he has Yor pick up the uniform as he heads to the safehouse. At the meeting, he finds out that Anya will have to receive 8 Stellar Stars and become an Imperial Scholar at Eden Academy in order for him to successfully complete Operation Strix. Meanwhile, Anya is very excited about getting her new uniform. But there are always criminals on the lookout for wealthy students from Eden Academy and Anya gets targeted by a group of hoodlums.[1]
Summary[]
The Forgers go to the tailor to take Anya's measurements and make her a school uniform. Since Anya had grown a bit since their last visit, Loid suggests making her uniform a bit larger. The tailor is surprised to learn that Yor has gotten married and is happy for her. She asks Loid if he is an Eden Academy alumnus, and upon learning he is not, she warns him that there is a wall between those who are Eden alumni and those who are not, which causes discrimination and bullying among the children. She also heard that kidnappings of commuter kids are on the rise since they are from rich families. Hearing that, Anya gets scared and does not want to go to school anymore. The tailor apologizes and states that there are many fun things about school too. Leaving the tailor, Loid suggests they eat out today, and Yor agrees. At the restaurant, Loid receives a secret message with his food, informing him about a briefing in five days at 1300 hours at Safe House D.
Sylvia greets Twilight
Five days later, Loid receives a call that Anya's uniform is ready. However, since he needs to attend his mission briefing, he asks Yor to go and pick it up with Anya. Going to Safe House D, he meets with his WISE Handler, Sylvia Sherwood, who yells at him for his recent expenses. Despite this, Twilight gives her even more invoices, stating that school is expensive. Sylvia proceeds with briefing Twilight for Phase 2 of Operation Strix, which will require a social gathering. Sylvia reviews how Eden works, explaining that there are around 2,500 students, ranging from ages six to nineteen, with the curriculum covering all thirteen years. Those who shine more than their fellow elites are the honor students known as the Imperial Scholars. Donovan Desmond only attends a social gathering exclusive to Imperial Scholars and their parents. To become an Imperial Scholar, a student must earn eight merits known as "Stella," which are awarded for exceptional grades and contributions to society. At the same time, poor grades and bad behaviors get demerits called "Tonitrus Bolts," and receiving eight will result in the student's immediate expulsion.
Anya gets her Eden uniform
Meanwhile, Yor and Anya go pick up Anya's school uniform. Anya likes it, and Yor finds her cute in it. Anya decides to keep wearing it on their way back, and as they stop at the park, she goes around to show her uniform to various people. While watching Anya, Yor reflects on the Eden interview. She knows they are a pretend family but believes she could be more of a mother to her. Yor suggests they go to the supermarket to get ingredients for dinner since Loid will be late. A group of thugs notices Anya's Eden uniform, and believing that Yor is her maid, they decide to get some extra cash.
As Yor purchases her groceries, Anya decides to go outside. When Anya exits the supermarket, the thugs grab Anya and cover her mouth, reminding her of the boutique owner's warning. Before one of the thugs plans on stripping her uniform to sell it, Yor knocks him out with her bag of groceries, causing her groceries to go flying. The other thugs attempt to extort Yor for their friend's hospital bills, but Yor reveals she just used all her money. One of the thugs grabs a pumpkin and tries to hit Yor with it, only for Yor to break it into several pieces with her bare hands. Yor asserts her as Anya's mother and scares the thugs away. While relieved that Anya is safe, Yor feels she is a failure of a mother as she let Anya get out of her sight and smashed all the ingredients. Anya comforts Yor, saying she loves that Yor is strong and cool. Anya requests that Yor train her as her new life in Eden would be dangerous, and this way, she will not be scared. Yor agrees, and they head home, where she starts Anya's training, much to Loid's confusion when he returns home.
Loid makes up Plan B
The Forgers attend the welcoming ceremony in Eden. Loid is happy they made it this far, but since the school is full of elite kids, he has mostly given up on making Anya an Imperial Scholar. The announcer then reveals the houses and their housemasters. Anya wonders which class she will be in, but Loid already knows as he changed parts of the lineup to get her in the same class as Damian Desmond, Donovan's second son. Loid notes that if Plan A, making Anya an Imperial Scholar fails, he will proceed with his new Plan B, the "Friendship Scheme." Being in Damian's class, Anya would become his friend and get invited to his house, bringing Loid along, which would get him in direct contact with Donovan. Loid guesses that since Anya grew up in an orphanage, she would have good communication skills with the other kids.
Anya gets called, and as she gets close to Damian, she starts staring at him. Damian notices and believes Anya has fallen for his charms. Reading his mind, Anya gets annoyed and moves along, making Damian think she is playing hard to get. Becky Blackbell greets Anya, and seeing her, Loid realizes she is the daughter of the CEO of a major military contractor. He also sees other students from important families. As they are valuable sources of intel, he hopes that Anya becomes friends with them. Becky introduces herself to Anya, thinking that Anya looks like a baby and that she could take care of her for a bit, but reading her mind, Anya gets annoyed and ignores her. The class housemaster is Henry Henderson. Loid realizes they did not fire him but demoted him to teaching the new students.
Anya's "relaxed" face
Henry shows the kids around and explains the Stella and Tonitrus Bolts system. Damian reveals who his father is, making the other kids gasp in awe. He asks Anya who her father is and will allow her to be his friend if he is important. Anya reveals he is a "feelings doctor," which disappoints Damian. Anya states she wants to play at Damian's house, but his friends push her away, saying she is a peasant. Angry, Anya wants to unleash the killer punch she learned from Yor but recalls Yor teaching her to control her emotions and that if someone is mean, she should laugh to make herself look like the cooler, bigger girl. Becky tells Anya to say something, but Anya states she does not care and tries to smile but makes a smirk that only annoys Damian, who thinks she is mocking him. Becky is amazed, thinking she is so mature and compliments her on how grown-up she is, which makes Anya happy. Henry then scolds them, telling them to keep quiet.
Anya punches Damian
As they proceed with the tour, Damian throws a paper ball at Anya and pretends he did not do it. While Anya keeps her "cool" expression, Becky threatens to tell on the boys to the teacher. Damian retorts that she cannot prove anything and shoves her aside. Damian steps up to Anya and proclaims that from now on, he will be bullying her every day to the point that she will stop smiling. Damian and his friends mock her a bit more, and a flame is lit in Anya's eye. Anya looks around before quickly turning to punch Damian, who falls to the trash bin and starts to cry.
Becky touched by Anya standing up for her
Henry rushes over to check the situation and Damian's friends tell him what happened. Anya claims that he ran into her hand by himself, but they expose her lies and even point out the imprint of her fist on Damian's face. Henry finds Anya's lying disgraceful, but Becky tries to explain that they bullied her the whole day while Anya was held back the whole time. As Henry now knows Anya punched him for sure, she recalls Yor telling her that it is okay to use force only if you are protecting a friend. After some thought, Anya makes up an excuse that when shoving Becky, Damian stepped on her foot, which upset Anya. Becky is brought to tears that Anya did this for her and thanks her. Henry finds it elegant that she kept her anger but stood up for a friend, but still acknowledges her violence.

At the parents' gathering, Loid sees that Donovan is not present. Henry meets with Loid and Yor and shares Anya's actions with them, and Loid is shocked to learn that she had punched Damian. Henry explains that such acts of violence would warrant three Tonitrus Bolts, but at his discretion, it was lowered to one. Yor apologizes to Loid, saying it is because of their training. Loid is dismayed that on Day One, both Plan A and Plan B are already failing. As the commemorative photo is taken with all the students' families, the Forgers are unable to hide their distressed faces.

- In the anime, Sylvia's name is introduced much sooner than the manga, which revealed it much later after her debut.
- During the briefing with Sylvia in the anime, Loid keeps his coat on until Sylvia explains Eden's merit system, while in the manga, he takes it off before they start the briefing.
- In the manga, there is a panel of Yor grabbing a carrot and thinking that it could come in handy for her assassin job. This is removed in the anime; instead she grabs the pumpkin she later breaks with her hand.
- After Yor hits the first thug, there is no blood shown on his face when he is down on the ground.
- When the thugs run away from Yor, the first thug gets carried away by the headbanded thug, but in the manga, he gets carried away by the girl thug.
