Demetrius Desmond (デミトリアス・デズモンド, Demitoriasu Dezumondo?) is the first son of the Desmond Family and the older brother of Damian Desmond. He attends Eden Academy as an eighth-year student in Cline Hall, Class 2, and is also an Imperial Scholar.
Demetrius is an exceptional student, barely getting a single question wrong on the midterm exams and earning six Stella Stars in the recent term finals.
Appearance[]
Demetrius is a tall and slim teenage boy with medium-length and slightly curly dark brown hair which is combed back. He also has fair skin and big, light eyes that are slightly shaped downwards. He generally resembles a younger version of his father, Donovan, but in his gloomy mood, he slightly resembles his mother, Melinda.
At home, Demetrius has a more relaxed appearance, letting his hair down with a few loose curls hanging from his hairline, similar to his father's past appearance.
Like other Imperial Scholars, he is usually seen wearing Eden Academy's uniform and a black cape with a dark red lining and a gold cord holding it together at the chest.
Personality[]
Demetrius is as secretive and cold as his parents and has an extremely narrow circle of communication (in his case, those being other Imperial Scholars). Mysteriously, when Anya initially tries reading his mind, it is completely silent. When she does get to hear his thoughts, he thinks about how he does not understand people and that thinking about it is a waste of time, showing himself to be highly unsociable, even toward his family. Nevertheless, it is clear that he is a versatile genius who earns his father's favoritism and participates in various fields to achieve achievements and glorify his family. It also seems that he is a fairly honest and straightforward person and appears to be quite stoic and silent, saying few words only when being spoken to and never starting a conversation by himself.
Abilities and Skills[]
Athleticism: Demetrius appears to have advanced skills in some sports. Ewen and Emile have admired his achievements in a photo album and praised him as a genuine MVP.[3]
Genius-level Intellect: Loid called Demetrius an exceptional student. Demetrius is extraordinarily smart and erudite in academics, as he almost never makes mistakes in his works[4], and in the term finals, he earned Stellas in six subjects that consisted of mathematics, biology, physics, history, and two different languages[1].
Relationships[]
Donovan Desmond[]

Little is known about their relationship, but it appears that the two used to be close. When Demetrius was little, it was said that Donovan barely left his son's side and always watched him study, perhaps due to Demetrius being an outstanding student and a worthy representative of the family. In the past, it is implied that he (and Melinda) came to Demetrius's orientation when he first entered Eden and were in a group photo that was not done for Damian, which perhaps indicates some of Donovan's favoritism for his elder son. When Anya reads his mind, she hears that Demetrius does not understand his father after talking with Damian, who asks if he said anything about his achievement on the term finals.

It is unknown how their relationship currently stands, but it is implied they have become strained through years, as Demetrius tells Damian that they are not in regular contact with each other, contrary to the younger Desmond's initial belief.
When the Desmond family reunites to have dinner together for the first time in a long while, Demetrius does not talk with Donovan at all during their mealtime, keeping to himself while eating his dinner. The only time Demetrius talks to Donovan is after he quietly finishes his meal, tidies himself, and sits upright. Donovan responds to his actions by dismissing Demetrius from the table, after which the boy thanks his father before leaving the dining room.[5]
According to Melinda, Demetrius has said that Donovan can read minds.[6] It is likely a large factor behind his seemingly empty mind when Anya tries to read it and also his inability to understand his father.[1]

According to Loid, Melinda is somewhat estranged from her husband and sons, which makes it clear that Demetrius has a distant relationship with his mother.
Their estrangement is displayed when the Desmonds have dinner as a family for the first time in a long while. During the dinner, Demetrius barely interacts with his mother and vice-versa, as both keep to themselves the entire time. When Demetrius is the first to leave the table after finishing his meal, Melinda uses his departure to exit the room as soon as she can, quickly following suit despite barely touching her own food.
Damian Desmond[]
Demetrius's indifference to Damian's attempts to get closer to him
Damian is Demetrius's little brother. Not much is known about their past, but they appear to have been distant ever since Damian was young. It seems that Demetrius has an extremely icy attitude toward his brother, so much so that he hardly even wants to talk to him on the phone, throwing only short neutral phrases. Nevertheless, he seems to have no problem fulfilling his request to pass the message to their father, but he also bluntly states that the kid should not have much hope because he may not come.
After the end-of-term awards ceremony, Damian approaches Demetrius once again and does not give up trying to be friendly with him by congratulating him on his awards, but Demetrius responds by coldly asking if that was all he came to him to say. However, when he watches Damian stumbling over his words, Demetrius pauses before mentioning Damian's own award and thinks about how he cannot understand his little brother. Demetrius's topic causes Damian to bring up Donovan again, asking for any reactions from him. Following this, Demetrius does not want to continue further conversations, stunning Damian as he reveals that he and their father do not maintain regular contact.

During the brothers' school break, Damian decides to return to their family estate, where Demetrius is also present, though he remains in his room for most of the day. Demetrius is visited by Damian, who knocks on his bedroom door in the hopes of receiving help for some homework. Without even opening the door to talk with his brother, Demetrius rejects him and directs him to their staff tutor. Later that day, when the family reunites for a rare family dinner, Demetrius does not interact with Damian at all, despite sitting across from him at the table, and quietly keeps to himself the entire time.

- In the English edition of the manga, Demetrius's full name is revealed much sooner than in the original Japanese version, which reveals it in Chapter 37. In the official English translation of Chapter 25, Jeeves calls him "Master Demetrius," whereas in Japanese, he is called by his shortened name, "Demmy" (デミー, Demī?).
- The anime follows the example of the Japanese edition, with the original and English dubs of Episode 17 presenting Demetrius as "Master Demmy." Demetrius's name is still revealed earlier than in the Japanese version of the manga, as in the following episode, his name is shown on his midterm paper.
