Berlint General Hospital is the longest-established hospital in the capital, and many major Ostanian figures in politics, industry, and the military use it.
Gerald Gorey's following of his co-workers
Loid Forger works in the Psychiatry Department of the hospital as a cover story. A number of WISE assets like Fiona Frost are in the hospital to support Twilight's cover story and secretly provide him with missions. The Chief Medical Director of the hospital is Gerald Gorey, who dislikes Loid because of his popularity in the hospital and closeness with Fiona. After Loid and Fiona injure themselves on a mission, their handler Sylvia Sherwood briefly fills in for their jobs while they recover, acting as a nurse.
One of the consultation rooms used by Loid contains an emergency escape route hidden by a lever in a bookcase, used when he goes out on missions as Twilight.
History[]
As part of his civilian cover for Operation Strix, Loid works at Berlint General Hospital as a psychiatrist, as there are many influential figures in Ostania using this hospital that could provide plenty of opportunities to steal intel and forge connections. To support his cover and assign him missions, other WISE assets like Fiona have been placed among the hospital staff. Occasionally, when leaving his family to do spy work, Loid uses his work at the hospital as an excuse. Since arriving at the hopsital, Loid has quickly grown popular among the staff and patients of the hospital, even being invited to play golf with the director.

The hospital staff pampering Anya
Anya is assigned to investigate an occupation and write a report on it for her social studies project at school. Asking Loid for help, he takes her to Berlint General Hospital. During their tour of the hospital, Anya asks Loid several questions about his profession as a psychiatrist. They also run into the regular staff, who quickly take a liking to Anya, doting on her and giving her snacks. After Loid takes Anya to one of his consultation rooms, he gets a knock on the door from Fiona. Keeping Anya occupied with a sand table, Loid meets with Fiona, who gives him documents for an extra mission.
Anya, who has learned from Loid's thoughts that there is an emergency escape route in the room, locates and ventures through it. Looking through a vent to a room below her, she witnesses a meeting concerning the neuroscience of paranormal perception. She accidentally makes a noise and decides to head back to the room before Loid returns, but realizes that her leg has gotten stuck between some pipes. As she struggles to free herself, her noises cause the doctors to believe they are hearing a ghost. After Anya gets her foot free and quickly hurries back, the doctors decide to keep an open mind when patients speak of ghosts.

Anya returns just before Loid does and hurriedly makes a mess of the sand table to look like she is playing with it. As the sand table is used to analyze a person's subconscious mind, Loid is utterly shocked by what he sees. Believing that Anya has been stressed since her sudden adoption and blaming himself as a parent and spy for not noticing her feelings, Loid decides that Anya requires immediate care. Wanting to help with her report, Loid takes a look into her notebook, only to find unintelligible scribbles.[1]
Cruise Adventure Arc[]
The day before Loid leaves for his cruise trip on Princess Lorelei, he apologizes to his co-workers for giving them extra work while he leaves, but they wish him a great time on the cruise, to which he thanks them. Working nearby, Fiona overhears the conversation and is also being watched by Gerald Gorey from the corner.

When Loid returns to work after his trip, he gifts his co-workers with souvenirs. He later meets with Fiona at his consultation room, who hands him documents of his patients during his absence. They both ask each other if anything changed while Loid was gone, but with both parties thinking of different things, they say not much happened. To thank Fiona for covering his missions in his place, Loid gives her the bag of leftover souvenirs. Fiona glares at Loid while accepting the gift and thanks him, confusing Loid. When alone, Fiona begins skipping through the hospital's halls, overjoyed with the gift.[2]

Loid is handcuffed at the hospital
Twilight continues to maintain his cover as Dr. Loid Forger, the well-loved and adored psychiatrist of the hospital. Following Yor's meeting with Melinda Desmond, Loid seeks out any patients connected with Melinda in the hopes of extracting useful information from them. However, Loid learns from Fiona that Gerald will not assign him any patients out of spite and jealousy of Loid's popularity within the hospital. Unbeknown to either of them, Gerald also despises Loid due to his closeness with Fiona. With his past efforts to get on Gerald's good side being a failure, Loid decides to deal with him. Loid puts up with Gerald's schemes to make him a pariah in the hospital and ends up receiving more affection from everyone.
As a last resort, Gerald attempts to call the SSS to report Loid as a spy. However, Loid had planned ahead, using Franky to intercept his phone call. Franky and Fiona help with Loid's plan as they arrive at the hospital disguised as SSS agents. Gerald shows them Loid and accuses him of selling information to Westalis, even planting fake evidence inside his desk. Fiona and Franky pretend to arrest Loid with Gerald present, but the three proceed to expose the director's accusation and his own misdeeds. The faux Secret Police agents pretend to take him away, but Loid makes an impassioned speech to convince them not to arrest Gerald, moving the director and making him indebted to Loid.[3]
Red Circus Arc[]
Loid consults Thomas
Thomas Austin, suffering from a series of nightmares, begins to attend consultations with Loid. He believes that his nightmares and other symptoms are caused by his experience with hostage-taking, but his mannerisms make Loid (and an eavesdropping Fiona) think otherwise. After looking into Thomas's background, Loid informs Thomas that the source of his nightmares and fears is his embittered wife, who has become antagonistic toward him as their twenty-year marriage has soured. Deciding to help ease this trauma, Loid has a talk therapy session with Thomas, which proves to be tiresome, making him conclude that authentic marriages are difficult.
After a while, Loid's sessions are beneficial, and Thomas slowly begins to be able to talk to his wife again. Later, he thanks Loid for his help.[4]
Mole Hunt Arc[]
Loid is called to the hospital to discuss a serious incident under the guise of a medical emergency. On his way there, he is briefly tailed by Yuri and Yor, the former suddenly leaving while the latter follows him all the way there before leaving herself. At the hospital, Fiona informs Loid that a mole in WISE HQ in Westalis has stolen top-secret documents, including Operation Strix. Emphasizing the direness of the situation, Fiona says they must retrieve the documents before Ostania does.[5]

The mission to recover the files from the mole Winston Wheeler is a success, but Fiona returns with heavy injuries after breaking her body in a fight against Winston. Fiona is sent to Berlint General Hospital with the claim of falling down the hospital stairs from the fourth to the first floor. Gerald secures a private room for Fiona, where he fails to spend time with her. Before leaving, he hands Fiona the medical files for VIP patients to be assigned to Loid. Sylvia is also at the hospital as a nurse, forced to fill in for Loid and Fiona for the day while they recover (and also to fulfill her desire to wear a nurse uniform). Sylvia informs Fiona that her injuries are not too severe and that she will be able to return to work in time. Sylvia praises Fiona for completing the mission but instructs her not to push herself so hard, hinting that she knows Fiona's feelings for Twilight. Fiona becomes flustered upon this realization, much to Sylvia's amusement.[6]
